In the final installment of her month-long residency at the Good Arts Collective, Waltzing on Waves has invited some friends to come and let their Freak Flags fly! Joining WoW will be sets of music from the haunting and contemplative Johanna Matthews , and the frenetic, crackling energy of finger-style guitarist Danny Fromm. This is the final night of the WoW residency. Let’s get weird.
Waltzing on Waves
Waltzing on Waves is the solo act of Jen Bluhm, a Twin Cities-based genre-fluid artist who carries a special appreciation for the bittersweet places, the preciously awkward paces, and the borderline absurd spaces that music can identify and elevate in the hearts and minds of humans. She knows her voice well, accessing techniques and devices from many different styles of music. She is a veteran songwriter of 25 years, a film composer, and a multi-instrumentalist. In addition to writing and performing her own music, Jen is now available as a freelance vocalist for session work and events. A great passion of Jen's is Neurodiversity/Mental Health Advocacy, as she highly values the beauty and depth that humans who are wired differently contribute to our world. Waltzing On Waves is currently at Side Town Studios recording her self-titled debut album to be released this year.
Johanna Mathews is a Minneapolis-based singer-songwriter. Her music is a haunting, soulful and contemplative. We live in a quickly changing world where sexual and racial discrimination, poverty, terrorism and the like provoke questions about an individual's purpose. Music creates a space for simultaneous observation of our reality. The struggle is real and so is the downright breathtaking wonder of existence. Let’s talk about it.
Danny Fromm is a unique musician. He is not a singer, but an exceptional instrumentalist. He plays guitar with a very unique playing style with a mixture of tapping, drumming, picking, strumming, and any way you have or have not seen the instrument played before. Danny writes his own tunes and arrangements, which also uniquely fit to his playing style. He is certainly a one of a kind guitar player who will bring delightful music to his audience.
